Course description

This course, followed by a minimum period of six months of practical work experience under the guidance of a qualified AVSEC supervisor, gives airport security staff the foundation training required to implement, monitor and apply preventive airport security measures in line with locally approved programmes.

WHO IT IS FOR

  • Airport security staff with primary responsibility for applying preventive aviation security measures at airports, together with staff of equivalent level in other aeronautical bodies carrying out support activities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of secondary education or an equivalent level of education.
  • Command of the written and spoken language of instruction

OBJECTIVES: by the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Work and move safely around the airport
  • Communicate and cooperate with other airport services
  • Control the movement of people and vehicles
  • Guard vulnerable areas, facilities and aircraft at the airport by performing guard duties and patrols
  • Recognise weapons and explosive or incendiary devices
  • Screen, search and inspect passengers and baggage
  • Respond to emergencies at the airport.
